Wavehill has been commissioned by Beamish Museum to evaluate the ambitious Remaking Beamish Project. With significant funding from the National Lottery Heritage Fund (NLHF), this initiative represents the largest single investment in the museum’s history. The project seeks to transform Beamish Museum’s visitor experience, the museum’s infrastructure, and its long-term sustainability.

The evaluation will include a thorough assessment of the project's impact, encompassing the experiences and outcomes for visitors, staff, and the museum. It is expected to reveal valuable insights into how the project has influenced Beamish and its wider community.

By examining the outcomes and experiences associated with Remaking Beamish, Wavehill’s evaluation is also expected to inform Beamish’s ongoing development in preserving its unique heritage as well as future projects. This will ensure that the museum continues to deliver engaging and historically rich experiences to its visitors and secure the long-term sustainability and continued growth of the Museum. It is anticipated that the evaluation will contribute to guiding the Museum’s strategic direction, by not only reflecting on the project outcomes but its significance in the wider UK heritage sector.

This project builds on Wavehill’s extensive portfolio of work undertaking independent evaluations of the development and delivery phases of NLHF-funded investments across the UK.
