Pen y Cymoedd - Survey of Microbusinesses Privacy Notice

How we hold and process your information

Wavehill are undertaking an independent evaluation of the Pen y Cymoedd Community Fund on behalf of Pen y Cymoedd Community Interest Company (CIC).


The information gathered will be used to help Pen y Cymoedd  CIC to assess how well the Fund has been managed and what difference the funding is making in the local area.


People taking part in the survey have been chosen due to their status as grant recipients of the Community Fund. Participation in the survey is voluntary. You can decide to not take part before or during the survey and can choose to not answer certain questions if you prefer.

 

Any personal information collected as part of the survey is kept confidential. Your answers to the survey will not be made public in a way that could lead to you or your business being identified. The information is only used for research purposes. Reports produced by Pen y Cymoedd CIC are made available on the Pen y Cymoedd homepage. Wavehill will produce a report based on the data but this will not identify any individuals.

 

Your personal data is deleted within six months.  Your answers to the survey are linked anonymously to other data sources for non-commercial research purposes only, unless you ask for this linkage to not take place. The anonymised data is held securely and is only ever used for non-commercial research purposes. We do not share or use your information for commercial or marketing purposes.

Under the new data protection legislation, you have the right:

  • To access your personal data held by Pen y Cymoedd CIC.

  • To require Pen y Cymoedd CIC to correct any mistakes in that data.

  • To (in certain circumstances) object to or restrict processing.

  • For (in certain circumstances) your data to be ‘erased’.

What is the Pen y Cymoedd Community Fund programme?

The Community Fund has been established for the benefit of the communities hosting the wind farm in or across the upper reaches of the Neath, Afan, Rhondda or Cynon Valleys. With an annual budget of £1.8 million each year from 2017 until at least 2036, the Fund offers an unprecedented opportunity for local people to invest in themselves and their ideas to improve the economic, social, cultural and environmental life of their communities.

 

What type of information is collected through the survey?

The survey covers a range of topics. These include the extent of the grant fund’s impacts on:

  • Business turnover

  • Business reach and customer base

  • Legacy activity

 

What is personal data?

Personal data means any information that could lead to a person being identified either alone or in combination with other widely-available information, e.g. their name, their address, or details specific to that person.

The survey collects some profile data for all recipients such as: business name, industry and number of employees.

 

How long does Pen y Cymoedd CIC keep data for?

Data collected from this survey will be held for a period of no more than six months after it has been gathered.


What is the legal basis for collecting and processing the data collected? 

The legal basis for collecting and processing the data is legitimate interest.

 

What is the purpose of processing your answers?

The data is used to enable Wavehill Ltd to evidence any impacts of the Community Fund on microbusinesses who have received grants through the programme.

By taking part, you will be helping Pen y Cymoedd to understand the impact of their Community Fund programme on microbusinesses and communities hosting the Pen y Cymoedd Wind Farm.

Who has access to the data collected through the survey?

Wavehill will have access to any data collected through the survey for analysis and reporting purposes. It will not be shared with any external organisation or partner. No individual survey responses will be identified or used in the reporting for this research. Language learning models and 3rd party software may be used to help us process data
